Getting One Way Links

One way links, (links to your site from sites that you do not have a link to), are good to have since they often convey more importance to a search engine, than a link that might have just been a "link trade" with no relevance.

One important way of getting one way links to your site is doing manual directory submissions.

It takes time to get listed on a directory. How much time depends on their human editors and on their availability to check all sites submitted to their directory. It may take up to 2-3 months for some directories to accept a site, as most have a large number of links requests each day.

Even if it takes quite a while for a directory to list a link, it is way better to spread this process over a lengthy period of time. That way the process will seem natural by search engines. No search engine will trust a large number of links of a new site being listed in a short time, or with identical link text.

Directory submissions are significant, since major search engines like Google and Yahoo use directories in their search algorithms. Links listed in various directories help stabilize your rankings when algorithm changes happen.

Another way of getting one way links is doing manual article submissions. This process should be done in the same slow motion as directory submissions. The submission process should be spread over a longer period of time in order to get that natural aspect that search engines are so fond of.   With article submissions you get 2 links out of each listed article, and of course, many people do read the articles.  So make sure you use quality content for them.

Get involved in whatever niche community you happen to be in. If you’re selling horseshoes, search for equestrian blogs, forums and user groups relating to horses. When you find them, start by reading other posts and commenting to the group. Build trust and get a reputation and become known as an expert in the field. This does take time and commitment, but the results will be well worth the effort.

Another good way to obtain one way back links is to start a blog on your topic. There are many places where you can blog for free, or you could add a blog to your existing web site.  Constantly creating new focused content will draw the attention of the search engines and bring you more traffic. Every comment and every post you make will become a back link to your site.  If you take the time to become an expert in your niche, you can apply your expertise to your blog and postings on forums.

Eventually other webmasters and bloggers will link to your pages to come back for your quality content and recommend you to their visitors. The search engines are getting smarter and smarter, and they are looking for high quality content, so give it to them and reap the benefits.
