Increase Link Popularity by Getting One Way Back Links As Part of Your SEO Strategy

A great way to increase your link popularity is with one way links, (links to your site from sites that you do not have a link to), are good to have since they often convey more importance to a search engine, than a link that might have just been a "link trade" with no relevance.

Manual Directories

One important way of getting one way links to your site is doing manual directory submissions.

It takes time to get listed on a directory. How much time depends on their human editors and on their availability to check all sites submitted to their directory. It may take up to 2-3 months for some directories to accept a site, as most have a large number of links requests each day.

Even if it takes quite a while for a directory to list a link, it is way better to spread this process over a lengthy period of time. That way the process will seem natural by search engines. No search engine will trust a large number of links of a new site being listed in a short time, or with identical link text.

Directory submissions are significant, since major search engines like Google and Yahoo use directories in their search algorithms. Links listed in various directories help stabilize your rankings when algorithm changes happen. They can increase link popularity substantially and they are free website promotion for your site.

Submitting Articles to Article Directories

Another way of getting one way links and free website promotion is by doing manual article submissions. This process should be done in the same slow motion as directory submissions. The submission process should be spread over a longer period of time in order to get that natural aspect that search engines are so fond of.   With article submissions you get 2 links out of each listed article, and of course, many people do read the articles.  So make sure you use quality content for them.

Search Google for "article directories" there are a lot of them.  I have several favorites. Articlesbase.com    ezinearticles.com  and  goarticles.com .  Once you've submitted a few articles your articles can be approved very quickly.  I've seen my articles indexed in Google within several hours of my submitting it to an article directory.  Once a directory publishes your article it can be picked up by e-zines, fed to other sites with RSS feeds, picked up and published by bloggers and viewed on the directory's home page for a short while.

To do so the re-publishers are required to publish your bio box intact along with it. Usually they do. Your bio box is where you get to strut your stuff with 2 or 3 links.  Work in those keywords, because you will be getting back links from this activity.

You also have a biography at each directory where you publish, and you get to list links to your sites, blogs, etc.  These are more back links for you where you can control the anchor text and descriptive text.

I usually submit an article to a half-dozen directories, mixing up the language in the bio box so there are fewer identical link and anchor text links to be spidered by the engines.  It looks more human like to the engines. More about Article Marketing

Proper article marketing can produce a increase in link popularity for your site.

Post in Forums and Comment on Blogs

Get involved in whatever niche community you happen to be in. If you’re selling horseshoes, search for equestrian blogs, forums and user groups relating to horses. When you find them, start by reading other posts and commenting to the group. Build trust and get a reputation and become known as an expert in the field. This does take time and commitment, but the results will be well worth the effort.

Another good way to obtain one way back links is to start a blog on your topic. There are many places where you can blog for free, or you could add a blog to your existing web site.  Constantly creating new focused content will draw the attention of the search engines and bring you more traffic. Every comment and every post you make will become a back link to your site.  If you take the time to become an expert in your niche, you can apply your expertise to your blog and postings on forums.

Eventually other webmasters and bloggers will link to your pages to come back for your quality content and recommend you to their visitors. The search engines are getting smarter and smarter, and they are looking for high quality content, so give it to them and reap the benefits.

Want to increase link popularity for your site, then do all of or at least most of the items above and give it time.
